Season ends for Schaumburg Boomers

The Schaumburg Boomers saw the 2026 season come to an end with a 3-2 loss to the Evansville Otters in Game 3 of the Frontier League Wild-Card Series on Saturday night, dropping the best-of-three series 2-1.

Evansville jumped out early, grabbing the lead behind an unearned run in the top of the first. Kai Moody tripled in the third with one away and scored on a groundout from Alec Craig to even the game.

Anthony Calarco spanked a homer leading off the fourth to put the Boomers ahead 2-1. Calarco recorded two homers and two doubles in the series. The lead held until the seventh when Evansville scored a pair of runs. The go-ahead run scored on an opposite-field single from Logan Brown, who hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning of Game 2.

Schaumburg put the tying run on base in three consecutive innings but couldn’t find a way to tie the game.

Cole Cook suffered the hard-luck loss, working into the seventh. Cook allowed just two earned runs with a pair of walks and nine strikeouts. Five players recorded hits for the Boomers in the defeat. Schaumburg also drew six walks.
