Marklund Day School staff welcome students on first day
The new school year began before students even reached the classroom at the Ann Haskins Center of Marklund Day School in Bloomingdale. In the parking lot, teachers and staff gathered to welcome each student by name, offering familiar smiles, personalized greetings and helping hands into the school.
As a non-public therapeutic day school approved by the Illinois State Board of Education, Marklund Day School partners with area public school districts to serve students whose needs cannot be met in a traditional setting at their home school.
With four locations in Geneva, Bloomingdale and Elgin, the program serves nearly 300 students ages three to 21 with autism and developmental, intellectual and medical disabilities whose needs require specialized educational and therapeutic support.
