Boomers power past Florence
The Schaumburg Boomers scored in seven different innings to claim a 17-14 win over the Florence Y’Alls and take two-of-three in the series.
Kyle Fitzgerald homered as the second batter of the day to put the Boomers ahead 1-0. Florence came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 3-1.
Schaumburg took the lead for good in the fourth. Kellum Clark and Banks Tolley notched back-to-back doubles to start the inning, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Cole Turney smacked a three-run homer to give the Boomers the lead at 5-3. Two more runs scored in the fifth to push the advantage to 7-3 on RBI singles from Clark and Chase Dawson. Florence scored three times in the bottom of the inning to pull within a run at 7-6.
Alec Craig scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Turney blasted his second homer of the game in the seventh, a two-run shot to make the score 10-6. The hosts drew within 10-8 in the seventh but the Boomers pulled away with three in the eighth and four in the ninth.
Buddie Pindel worked five innings and earned his ninth win of the season. Turney drove home six runs and Dawson finished with four hits. All nine members of the lineup tallied a hit with six recording multiple.
