Driver killed when pickup truck crashes into mailboxes, tree in Lisle
A 33-year-old man died after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Lisle, authorities said.
Lisle police officers responded at about 2:51 a.m. to the crash scene in the 900 block of Maple Avenue, police said.
They found a Ford F-150 pickup truck that had struck multiple mailboxes and collided with a tree after leaving the roadway.
The driver was unresponsive and trapped inside the vehicle, police said. He was extricated by first responders from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, who made attempts to save his life before taking him to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lisle Police Department, the MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
