Gary UMC in Wheaton offers ‘Backpack Blessing’

School starts soon, so bring your backpack for a blessing to Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton on Sunday, Aug. 9, during 9 a.m. worship.

Students of all ages (including adults) are welcome to bring their backpacks. This summer, the church offers Kids’ Church for 3-year-old preschoolers through third grade and a nursery from birth through age two.

The church at 224 N. Main St. has celebrated deep roots in the community since 1853. The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. This summer, Sunday worship is at 9 a.m., including Kids’ Church.

At 10 a.m., there’s a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection. Starting Sunday, Sept. 13, the church will restart its second service at 11:11 a.m., along with Sunday school for all ages between services.
