Lombard church invites area Methodists to Aug. 29 concert and picnic
On Saturday, Aug. 29, Faith United Methodist Church in Lombard is hosting a community concert and picnic, and all Salt Creek Cluster churches of the United Methodist Church's Northern Illinois Conference are invited to participate.
The Lombard church’s front lawn will be filled with a variety of music groups and a free picnic lunch from noon to 3 p.m.
The Rev. David Price, senior pastor for both First UMC Glen Ellyn and Faith UMC Lombard, continues to expand the community outreach ministry, by inviting area Methodist churches to provide a musical performance and either food, canopies, and outdoor games.
Sharing tasks in the preparation for the event encourages participating churches to work together toward a common goal of creating fellowship and ministerial opportunities among those attending.
The theme for this year is, “Working Together We Shine.”
Communion will be celebrated with the large gathering around 1 p.m. A freewill offering will be collected to support missions. Faith UMC is located at 815 S. Finley Road in Lombard.
