Orphans of the Storm breaks ground for new animal shelter

Orphans of the Storm broke ground Friday on a state-of-the-art animal shelter during a ceremony in Riverwoods.

The new facility is expected to cost $15 million and will take 18 to 24 months to complete. Officials there hope it will open in time for the animal shelter's 100th anniversary in October of 2028, said Sandy De Lisle, Orphans of the Storm director of development.
