Wheaton P.E.O. Chapter hosts fundraising walk for women’s education

On Monday, July 13, the P.E.O. Wheaton, Chapter NC is participating in the nationwide “Walk Today for Women Tomorrow” fundraiser.

P.E.O. is one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America, a philanthropic educational organization with more than a half million women in the U.S. and Canada with a total of 5,500 chapters in North America.

This fundraiser is designed to create awareness and help fund scholastic grants, scholarships, awards and loans for women of all ages pursuing their educational goals.

The walk begins at 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church, 715 N. Carlton Ave. in Wheaton. There is a 20-, 30- or 40-minute mapped walk through the Wheaton neighborhood. If there is inclement weather, the event will be held in the church’s Ministry Center. Participate by being a walker or sponsoring a walker with your donation.

Since its inception in 1869, P.E.O. has helped more than 125,000 women pursue their educational goals by providing over $435 million for this purpose.

All proceeds will help to fund the organization’s six International Projects, all classified as 501(c)(3) by the IRS.
