Man who fled from Schaumburg police faces child endangerment, obstruction charges

A man who fled from Schaumburg police Thursday morning is now charged with misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and obstructing police.

Police were initially called to a residence on the 1700 block of Wildflower Court at about 10:45 a.m. by a caller claiming a woman inside the home was being held against her will by her boyfriend.

Shortly after arriving at the residence, the woman walked outside and explained that her boyfriend and his 3-year-old were still inside the home. When police knocked on the door of the residence to speak with the boyfriend, he leapt out of a window and tried to flee from police, who caught up with him a short time later.

During the investigation, police said they determined the woman was never in any danger and was not held against her will. However, the boyfriend was still charged with the misdemeanors.

The Department of Child and Family Services were also contacted and were able to place the 3-year-old with other family members.
