Police: Schaumburg man charged in Barrington sex assault

A Schaumburg man was charged after an investigation into a February sexual assault in Barrington, officials said.

Olufemi I. Olaifa, 40, faces one felony county of criminal sexual assault, according to a news release from the Barrington Police Department. He is expected to appear in court Wednesday, June 17.

Police were called to Alden Estates of Barrington, a rehabilitation facility, on Feb. 22 for a reported sexual assault, the release stated. A 30-year-old woman told officers she had been assaulted by a male nurse at the facility.

After the investigation, which included collecting DNA evidence from the victim, the suspect was officially charged.
