Chicago man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend from Addison apartment

A Chicago man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Addison apartment and kidnapped her in March.

Tomie Nickles, III, 33, was charged over the weekend with home invasion causing injury, residential burglary, two counts each of kidnapping and unlawful restraint and six counts of domestic battery, all felonies.

Authorities from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office say that the female victim was asleep in her Addison apartment on March 8 at about 4:20 a.m. when she was awakened by a crash. When she got out of bed, she saw her ex-boyfriend standing in the hallway by her bedroom door, officials said.

According to prosecutors, Nickles is accused of grabbing the victim by the arm and neck, dragging her from her apartment and through a courtyard to a vehicle, and then starting to drive while holding her by the neck and face and pushing her face into the front passenger window, authorities said.

Investigators say Nickles eventually drove the victim back to her residence, allowed her to leave the vehicle and then fled.

The victim called the Addison Police Department, and authorities later identified Nickles as a suspect. He was arrested June 3.

Nickles was ordered to stay in the DuPage County Jail until his trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 9.
