Students ‘step up’ at Gary UMC in Wheaton
On Sunday, May 31, students of all ages will “step up” to the next grade at Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton.
During 9 a.m. worship, congregants will pray for high school graduates and present them with the book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” signed by members of the congregation, along with a cozy afghan handmade by Gary Church knitters.
During the service, the church will also pray for the adult and high school volunteers who will travel to Kentucky to work with the Appalachia Service Project in June.
The church at 224 N. Main St. has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. This summer, Sunday worship is at 9 a.m. with Kids’ Church and a 10 a.m. coffee fellowship hour. Kickoff Sunday is Sept. 13, when the 11:11 a.m. service and 10 a.m. Sunday school for all ages will resume.
