West Chicago Garden Club hosts annual plant sale during Blooming Fest
West Chicago Garden Club’s plant sale, which began in 1999, was so successful that West Chicago built a garden festival, Blooming Fest, around it
Gardening enthusiasts, craft lovers, and everyone else are welcome to explore the festival, now marking its 25th year. The annual festival on Saturday, May 16, features one of the region's largest plant sales, live music, a variety of craft and food vendors, and family-friendly activities.
Arrive early for the best selection at the plant sale which opens at 9 a.m. sharp and continues until 2 p.m. under a large tent on Galena Street, with an entrance on Main Street. The sale will be held rain or shine.
There will be thousands of perennials, annual flowers, and a large selection of peppers and tomatoes for sale at reasonable prices. Club members are available at the sale to answer questions and offer advice.
As part of the club’s mission is to encourage gardening in the western suburbs, they hold four “potting parties” in March and April where they divide and pot up plants from their own gardens. The plants are watered and nurtured until the sale in mid-May so that they are ready to go into neighborhood gardens.
Club members will be available at the sale to answer questions and offer advice. Find more information about the club at WestChicagoGardenClub.org.
