Man charged with DUI in fatal I-355 crash

A man has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol — causing death, after a crash Friday that killed a woman in Addison.

Adolfo Carrillo, 50, of the 1900 block of South 51st Avenue, Cicero, is also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and driving too fast for conditions.

Illinois State Police say that shortly before 6 p.m., there was a two-vehicle crash on I-355 northbound at Army Trail Road. A Ford pickup truck, driven by Carrillo, was merging onto the highway and hit a Lexus SUV on the passenger side.

According to a prosecutor’s petition to detain Carrillo pretrial, witnesses told police Carrillo crossed several lanes of traffic at a high speed.

The Lexus’ driver and two passengers were injured. One of the passengers, 64-year-old Rebecca Hidalgo of Arizona, died. According to court records, she suffered internal bleeding due to lacerations to her liver, pancreas and intestines.

Carrillo had a blood-alcohol content of .098 about 90 minutes after the crash, according to blood taken when he was being treated at a hospital, the detention petition states.

Police say he told them he had been at a retirement party at Anyways Pub in Bloomingdale that afternoon. Police confirmed he had been there from 2 to 5 p.m.

On Monday, a judge ordered Carrillo be held in jail pretrial.
