Vernon Hills man charged in Buffalo Grove motel attack

A 28-year-old Vernon Hills man is facing felony battery and unlawful restraint charges stemming from an attack against a woman at a Buffalo Grove motel earlier this month.

Buffalo Grove police said Bat E. Baasanbat is accused of attacking a woman at a motel on the 1500 block of East Busch Parkway April 16, leaving her with a bruised face after choking her until she lost consciousness.

Police have been searching for him since the attack and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Thursday, Palatine police contacted Buffalo Grove after Baasanbat was detained on another matter at a business there. He was arrested and transported to the Lake County jail where he remains after being ordered held pretrial.

His next court date is pending.
