Vernon Hills home left uninhabitable by fire on Thursday
A Vernon Hills home sustained heavy damage and was left uninhabitable by a fire Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Crews responded to the 100 block of Annapolis Drive about 3 p.m. and found heavy fire in the rear of the two-story, single-family home, according to a news release from the Countryside Fire Protection District. The fire extended into the living space and the attic.
Before fire crews arrived, all residents were able to exit the home. One resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation but did not require further medical treatment at a hospital. There were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
