Wheaton church to host a history of ‘Love your neighbor’

On Sunday, April 26, Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton will offer an immersive history of “love your neighbor as yourself,” not as an abstract idea or moral imperative but as a world-shaping movement.

Author, ethicist and lecturer Andrew DeCort will lead the class and explore the contemporary implications amid national events.

The conversation will be centered on the ethics of Jesus and the invincibility of love. DeCort founded the Institute for Faith and Flourishing and co-founded the Neighbor-Love Movement in Ethiopia, which has reached over 20 million people with the invitation to nonviolent spirituality.

It will be at 10:10 a.m. at the church, 224 N. Main St. The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. Sunday worship is at 9 and 11:11 a.m. In-between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
