Woodstock Folk Festival spring benefit concert celebrates Route 66 centennial

Join a musical journey on historic Route 66 which begins in Illinois and ends in California. On Sunday, April 26, performers will present songs and stories about road trips, cars, and places along Route 66.

It will be presented from 2 to 4 p.m. at Stage Left Cafe, 125 W. Van Buren St., next to the Opera House on Woodstock Square in Woodstock.

Performers include Tricia Alexander, Chris Farrell, Ian Hall, Dean Milano, Laurel Palma with Al Fyfe and Joe Pesz, and Mike Preston.

Dean, who is also a model car collector, will bring a display. There will be photos of and books about Route 66 on view, as well as a themed cake for all to enjoy.

Proceeds from this Spring Benefit Concert will go toward the 41st annual Woodstock Folk Festival, set for Sunday, July 19. Performers donate their time and talent.

The festival website, woodstockfolkfestival.org, has bios of performers, a link to purchase tickets ($22 in advance, $27 day of show) through the Woodstock Opera House, and information about the summer Festival.

The festival is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) Illinois nonprofit organization, made possible in part by Radio Partners WDCB, WFMT, and WNUR, the City of Woodstock, and Real Woodstock, but the festival’s main support comes from individual donors. In addition to presenting quality folk music, the Festival also builds community through music.
