One dead, two hurt in Streamwood house fire
One person is dead and another was transported to a hospital following an early morning house fire in Streamwood Thursday that also injured a firefighter.
Investigators are still at the scene of the fire that was reported just after 4:45 a.m. on the 100 block of Southwood Circle.
Streamwood Fire Chief Michael Meyer said heavy smoke and fire was showing from both floors of the single-family, split-level home when firefighters arrived.
Meyer said one resident was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was transported to a hospital, but their condition is unknown.
A firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released, Meyer added.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting.
The house sustained an estimated $250,000 in damage and was rendered uninhabitable.
