Holy Week includes foot washing at Gary UMC in Wheaton
During Holy Week, Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton offers 9 and 11:11 a.m. worship complete with palms on Palm Sunday, March 29.
On Maundy Thursday, April 2, the service will include a soup supper and worship, plus an opportunity for hand or foot washing from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
On Good Friday, April 3, worship will begin at 7 p.m. with congregants leaving in relative darkness.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, a sunrise service will begin at 6:30 a.m. on the church’s lawn on Main Street, including Holy Communion.
Traditional Easter worship will be at 9 and 11:11 a.m., with an Easter egg hunt at 10:15 a.m. in Memorial Park.
The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. Sunday worship is at 9 and 11:11 a.m. In-between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
