Historian Terry Lynch highlights lesser-known ‘Women of the American Revolution’
Historian and actor Terry Lynch presents “Uncle Sam Wants You to Remember the Women of Independence, the Women of the American Revolution” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St.
Numerous women played key roles in the establishment of our nation. Lynch asks the question, “What contributions did they make to our history? How did their perception of freedom differ from that of men?”
Martha Washington and Abigail Adams are commonly mentioned, what about the lesser-known figures like Deborah Read, Mercy Otis Warren, and Sybil Ludington?
Lynch explains how these women shattered stereotypes and paved the way for future generations. There will be time afterward for questions audience discussion.
