Vernon Hills man accused of child pornography possession, dissemination
A Vernon Hills man is accused of having child sex abuse materials after police were tipped off by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Alexander Giesen, 28, was in possession of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children ages 5 to 12, according to a news release from the Vernon Hills Police Department.
Vernon Hills officers served a warrant the morning of March 4, seizing electronic devices and arresting Giesen, who is charged with six counts of possession of child pornography and one count of dissemination of child pornography, all felonies, the release stated.
Based on unsanitary conditions, Giesen’s home was declared uninhabitable.
If convicted of the most serious count, Giesen faces six to 30 years in prison. He is being held at the Lake County Jail. The state’s attorney’s office has filed a petition to detain him pending trial.
Vernon Hills PD was assisted by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit and the Lake County State’s Attorney's Office. Grip and Enzo, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Electronic Detection Dogs, provided specialized assistance in the serving of the warrant.
