Final call: Bloomingdale Chamber scholarship deadline nears
The clock is ticking for local students to secure a Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce scholarship. All applications must be submitted by Friday, March 6, to be considered for this year’s awards.
Dedicated to creating a bridge from the classroom to the career, the program offers multiple $1,000 scholarships. Unlike many academic awards, the chamber utilizes a holistic evaluation process. While grades matter, a panel of judges will prioritize community involvement, personal circumstances, and a demonstrated desire to make a positive impact.
The chamber is proud to support a diverse range of educational paths, including:
• High school seniors: Multiple scholarships awarded to high school seniors going onto college to pursue a degree.
• Trade & Technical Education: A dedicated scholarship for those pursuing certifications in fields such as cosmetology, automotive mechanics, HVAC, and more.
• College scholarship: One scholarship awarded to a currently enrolled college student.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be a high school senior or currently enrolled in a secondary institution with at least one year remaining. Additionally, they must meet one of the following:
• Be a current Bloomingdale resident.
• Be a chamber member, an employee of a member, or an immediate family member of an employee/member.
The “Shop Local” Connection
The scholarship fund is a direct result of the generosity of the Bloomingdale business community. Last year, the chamber awarded 16 students with $1,000 scholarships.
“It is your local businesses supporting your students, which is another reason to support local by shopping, dining, and doing all your business locally,” says Cindy Allston, President/CEO of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce. “It is not the faceless online businesses supporting your students.”
How to support
On Thursday, March 26, the chamber is hosting a fundraiser luncheon at Texas Roadhouse in Bloomingdale from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This special luncheon donated by Texas Roadhouse will include raffles with all the proceeds going to support the scholarship program. The chamber’s goal is to raise enough to fund two scholarships. You can register for this fundraiser or make a donation at BloomingdaleChamber.com.
