Addison man charged with possessing child sex abuse materials
An Addison man has been charged with possessing child sexual abuse materials, after an investigation by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
Kirk Mikulski, 56, who lives in the 200 block of Mill Road, is free on pretrial release.
He faces six felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Investigators searched Mikulski’s home Feb. 19, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
DuPage County Assistant State’s Attorney Anthony Raimondi said at a pretrial detention hearing Feb. 20 that the investigation began in 2023, was paused as an investigator dealt with other cases, and resumed in December 2025.
He said the investigator found videos on multiple electronic devices.
Raimondi asked that Mikulski be detained.
Assistant public defender Kelly Batvilas said Mikulski had not watched or downloaded child sexual abuse materials since April 2024 and that investigators must not have considered him dangerous, due to the gap in the investigation. She said Mikulski had deleted files and stopped participating in groups that share materials.
Judge Joshua Dieden noted that files had not been deleted. However, he said conditions could be placed on Mikulski that would mitigate any danger to the community. Dieden ordered that Mikulski have no contact with any person under age 18 and agree to have monitoring software installed on all his electronic devices.
