Brukalo joins Cooper Trachtenberg Law Group

Attorney Catherine Brukalo has joined the legal team of Rolling Meadows-based Cooper Trachtenberg Law Group.

Brukalo is the fifth lawyer serving the practice’s clients. A native Polish speaker, Brukalo began her career as an intern serving the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow, Poland. During her final year in law school, she clerked in a felony drug courtroom working with the Cook County state’s attorney. Brukalo has represented clients in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, professional malpractice, probate, breach of contract claims, real estate transactions and domestic relations.

Her practice now focuses on family law. In 2026, she was listed among Illinois’ “Super Lawyers” for the fourth consecutive year.

Brukalo is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association and The Advocates Society. She also is a member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce and serves as a child’s representative and guardian ad litem in Cook and DuPage counties.

Wheaton family law firm McSwain Rapp Law, LLC, recently made attorney Alexandra Rothenberg a partner.

Rothenberg has nearly a decade of legal experience and a distinguished background in family law. She was appointed guardian ad litem in both Kane and DuPage counties in 2019.

She previously served as a special litigator in the Family Law Division of the Office of the Texas Attorney General. She was named Assistant Attorney General of the Year for her region in 2025.
