School shooting survivor to speak at DuPage Democratic event Sunday

School shooting survivor and gun control advocate David Hogg will be the keynote speaker at the Democratic Party of DuPage County’s annual gala on Sunday.

The event is set to begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. at the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace.

Hogg was a student at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, when a mass shooter struck there in 2019. He subsequently became an activist and eventually served temporarily as co-vice chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Other scheduled speakers include U.S. Senate candidates Juliana Stratton, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Robin Kelly and Kevin Ryan, as well as other candidates in the March 17 primary election.

Tickets range from $85 to $10,000 and can be purchased at dupagedemocrats.com.
