Prairie Sky Quintet blends Baroque and contemporary at March 8 concert

Enjoy an afternoon of wind quintet music, featuring a blend of music ranging from Baroque to contemporary, at the Prairie Sky Quintet concert on March 8.

This skilled quintet performs regularly in Chicago and suburban area venues. The concert will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Hinsdale United Methodist Church, 945 S. Garfield in Hinsdale.

It is sponsored by the P.E.O. chapter MV sisterhood, an international philanthropic organization dedicated to promoting educational opportunities for women.

A freewill offering will be applied to scholarships and loans for women’s education.

The Prairie Sky Wind Quintet is made up of musicians who perform currently in Chicago suburban area orchestras and wind bands, including the Sinfonietta Bel Canto, Wheaton Municipal Band, American Wind Band, and the Sicilian Band of Chicago.

This concert will feature a variety of selections and musical styles sure to reaching out to the audience’s taste. Included arrangements ranging from Overture to “The Magic Flute” by Mozart, Gershwin’s Prelude No. 2, The Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations,” The Beatles’ “Maxwell Silver Hammer,” Amy Beach’s “Pastorale,” to Antonio Vivaldi’s “Spring” from “The Four Seasons.”
