Downtown Wheaton railroad crossing to close for repairs
Wheaton drivers will need to avoid the railroad crossing by the downtown Metra train station next week.
Union Pacific Railroad told the city that repairs to the West Street crossing will require it to be closed from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, according to a notice.
A detour route will funnel northbound traffic east on Liberty Drive; south on Wheaton Avenue; east on Willow Avenue; north on Main Street; west on Wesley Street; and finally north on West Street.
Southbound drivers will be detoured east on Front Street; south on Main; west on Liberty; and back south on West.
