Pop up bird walk at Captain Daniel Wright Woods Forest Preserve

Lake County Audubon Society is hosting a winter bird walk from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Daniel Wright Woods Forest Preserve, 24830 N. St. Marys Road, Mettawa.

The popular location is within the Des Plaines River Watershed, where a variety of species spend the entire year or just the colder months. Species seen here so far this year include Redheaded Woodpeckers, Belted Kingfishers, Common Goldeneyes, Brown Creepers, Barred Owls and Bald Eagles.
