5 hurt in hazmat incident at swim school in Park Ridge

Five people were hurt by a chemical mixture at a swim school in Park Ridge Thursday afternoon, according to fire officials.

Twenty-two people were treated at the scene and five went to the hospital, authorities said.

Four of those injured were transported to a hospital from the scene and a fifth person self-transported to the hospital, according to fire officials. Their conditions are unknown.

The hazmat call came at about 4:15 p.m. for the swim school on the 600 block of North Northwest Highway.

The injuries were a mix of students, staff and parents, fire officials said.
