Festival Choirs and Chamber Orchestras present Lenten music in Wheaton
The Festival Choirs and Chamber Orchestras of Gary United Methodist Church of Wheaton and First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton will present “Grief and Glory: A Musical Lenten Anticipation” on Sunday, Feb. 15.
They will present M. Roger Holland’s “Tribulation Suite” and the choral-orchestral world premiere of Donté Ford’s “Three Gospelized Spirituals” at 9 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 715 N. Carlton Ave., and 11:11 a.m. at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St.
Soprano Kiena Williams will be a soloist. The event is directed by Joshua Velez, Gary UMC director of music and Donté Ford, First Presbyterian minister of music and worship. This free event is open to the public.
The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. Sunday worship will be at 9 and 11:11 a.m. In-between services, there’s Sunday school for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
