No injuries in South Barrington basement fire

No injuries were reported in a South Barrington house fire Monday, officials from the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District said.

Firefighters were called to the home on the 0-100 block of Willowmere Drive at about 12:44 p.m. in response to a residential fire alarm.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke from the basement window wells.

Fire damage was contained to the basement with minimal extension, officials said. Smoke damage was present throughout the residence.

The fire was extinguished in about an hour and a half, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
