Elgin Organ Tour date for Immanuel UCC Streamwood moved to April
The Great Elgin Pipe Organ Tour event scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 18, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Streamwood has instead been moved to later in April so as not to conflict with Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations in the area.
The next stop on the tour will be St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1.
No events are planned for the month of March in observance of Lent, but the next several Organ Tour stops include the following dates with a finale concert planned for late May or early June at First United Methodist:
• Feb. 1 — St. Laurence Catholic Church, 225 Jewett St.
• Feb. 15 — St. Mary Catholic Church, 400 Fulton St.
• Feb. 22 — First Presbyterian Church, 240 Standish St.
• April 19 — Immanuel UCC, 1500 Old Church Road in Streamwood
• April 26 — Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 340 Grand Blvd.
The Great Elgin Pipe Organ Tour, started in 2024, is a series of free concerts, showcasing the many unique pipe organs in Elgin and the surrounding area.
The concerts feature local organists and the host church’s own musicians, and program content varies from formal organ repertoire, to chamber ensembles, piano-organ duets, and hymn-sings.
The mission of the series is to revive interest in the pipe organ, open up new performance venues, and provide an affordable concert experience to the community.
Freewill offerings are taken at each concert to benefit the host church’s programs and ministries. Additional general donations would also support the organ tour or sponsor guest instrumentalists can be made to First Congregational Church on behalf of the tour.
