Campaign launched to provide information on battery disposal sites, safety

In light of a new Illinois law expanding access to safely dispose of batteries, the National Waste & Recycling Foundation has launched a battery safety campaign to make it as easy as possible to find disposal sites.

The campaign also offers resources to locate drop-off locations, identify common items that contain lithium-ion batteries and safety tips.

Lithium-ion batteries are common in everyday household items and can catch posing a risk to sanitation workers, recycling facilities and others, the organization says.
