Elmhurst History Museum’s ‘Snapshots in Time’ to take you on a 250-year journey

On Sunday, Jan. 11, join Elmhurst History Museum Executive Director Dave Oberg in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary this year with “Snapshots in Time: 250 Years of Elmhurst History,” a special Elmhurst history lecture.

At 1 p.m., enjoy a special flag raising ceremony and then head inside the Elmhurst History Museum Education Center, 120 E. Park Ave., for a special lecture on Elmhurst history at 1:30 p.m.

Presented in 25-year intervals, this lecture will provide a 250-year retrospective on how the area we call Elmhurst today has changed over time.

This talk covers the vast and sweeping changes the area has seen, from the time when Pypegee strolled along the banks of the Wewanippissee (now called Salt Creek), through the arrival of the iron horse, incorporation under Village President Henry Glos, explosive growth in the 1920s and ’60s, and a new era of construction in the 21st century.

Patrons will experience the lives and worlds of 10 generations in under an hour. Tickets for $8 are available via eventbrite.com.
