Winter Break Wonderland brings flurry of fun to DuPage Children’s Museum
Sock Skating, Mini Zambonis, and more!
Families are invited to experience Winter Break Wonderland, a seasonal celebration filled with hands-on play, cozy moments, and winter-themed learning — all indoors from Saturday, Dec. 20 through Sunday, Jan. 4, at DuPage Children’s Museum, 301 N. Washington St. in Naperville.
At the heart of the experience is the indoor sock skating rink where children can glide, twirl, and slide together in a safe, playful environment.
Beyond the rink, Winter Break Wonderland offers a thoughtfully designed mix of activities that spark movement, imagination, learning, and fun.
Children can explore math and measurement while mixing pretend drinks at the Cocoa Counter, smooth “ice” and sweep away “snow” at the Mini Zamboni Table, and experiment with buoyancy as icebergs float arctic animals down the water table.
Little hands can scoop, plow, and dig in the Snow Box, while families looking for a quieter moment can relax together in the Cozy Cabin, complete with Northern Lights projections and campfire-inspired play.
“Winter can be such a busy season, and this experience is a reminder to slow down and connect,” said Kimberly Stull, executive vice president of Joyful Learning at DuPage Children’s Museum. “When families play together — whether they’re skating, building, or cozying up in the cabin — children are learning through movement, exploration, and shared joy. Those moments of connection are incredibly powerful.”
Designed for children infant to age 10, DuPage Children’s Museum inspires curiosity, creativity, and wonder through hands-on exhibits where learning happens through play.
From infants exploring sensory-rich environments to young children solving problems and experimenting with new ideas, the museum offers meaningful experiences for every stage of early childhood.
DuPage Children’s Museum also provides dedicated spaces for its youngest visitors through Young Explorers, specially designed areas for children under age 2.
These spaces support early brain development through age-appropriate sensory exploration, stacking, sorting, and open-ended play.
All Winter Break Wonderland activities are included with museum admission or membership. Families can save time at check-in — and save $1 per ticket — by purchasing tickets online in advance.
