Police: Former boyfriend charged in deadly Schaumburg stabbing

A Niles man is set to appear in court Thursday on allegations he stabbed a former girlfriend to death Tuesday morning in Schaumburg.

Alfredo Briseno, 49, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of Jenny Rodriguez of Des Plaines, Schaumburg police announced Wednesday night.

According to police, officers responded to a parking lot on 100 block of South Roselle Road at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a 911 call about a domestic disturbance.

Officers arrived to find a man later identified as Briseno standing over a woman who was on the ground bleeding, authorities said. Officers arrested the man and began administering first aid to the woman, later identified as Rodriguez, police said.

Despite lifesaving efforts by officers and Schaumburg firefighters, Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators later learned Rodriquez, 37, and Briseno had a dating relationship that recently ended, police said.

Officers also recovered a knife at the scene, according to police.

Briseno is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing Thursday morning at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
