Final step in Lake Michigan water project near Buffalo Grove underway

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has approved the changeover to Lake Michigan water for the Pekara, Inverrary and Horatio Gardens neighborhoods near Buffalo Grove.

The final step in the process, including adjustments and flushing the water system to remove remaining well water is underway.

Flushing the system can take between two to four months and customers may notice cloudiness or small sediment, which is considered normal and can be cleared by running the tap for a few minutes.

Lake Michigan water is provided by the village through an agreement with Lake County. Visit lakecountyil.gov/lmwater.
