Schaumburg police: Suspect in stabbing also wanted in connection with nearby robbery

Schaumburg police said a suspect they arrested in connection with a stabbing Monday night is also responsible for an earlier robbery.

At about 9:10 p.m., officers were called to the parking lot of a business at 738 E. Schaumburg Road for a report of a stabbing. The officers provided first aid to the male victim, who was then taken to a hospital for treatment, Schaumburg Police Commander Christy Lindhurst said.

The department determined the suspect in the stabbing was also involved in a possible robbery in the parking lot of the gas station at 780 E. Schaumburg Road. A female victim in that incident was also transported for treatment.

Lindhurst said that while preliminary information has indicated the suspect and the stabbing victim are acquaintances, the suspect and the robbery victim do not appear to know each other.

Officers took the suspect into custody at the scene. Charges are pending as the investigation continues and police work with prosecutors, Lindhurst said.
