Police: Mount Prospect grocery store robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening

Police are seeking information after a Mount Prospect grocery store was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening.

A man armed with a handgun entered El Amigo Carniceria, on the 400 block of East Euclid Avenue, around 5:30 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, who complied, according to a news release from Mount Prospect police. The man then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a white SUV.

The robber is described as Hispanic, about 35 to 45 years old, 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches, with a medium build, wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

No customers were in the store; no employees were injured.

The robbery is still under investigation by the Mount Prospect Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (847) 870-5654
