Kids find tricks and treats on the trail in Schaumburg Sunday
Zombies, witches and pirates passed out candy to pandas, princesses and superheroes Sunday during the Schaumburg Park District’s annual Tricks & Treats in the Valley event at Heritage Farm at Spring Valley.
The sold-out event saw 400 participants on both Saturday and Sunday hike the trail, stopping at 20 trick-or-treat stations along the way, each manned by a costumed volunteer.
Zombie Bill Bidlo, aka Izzy Gone, said he’s been volunteering for the event for about five years. His candy stop, adorned with a coffin, numerous headstones and bits of scattered skeletons that he lurched around, was a favorite with visiting families.
“They do such a great job with this,” Bidlo said of the setup, which was designed by the park district. “And it’s a beautiful day to be a zombie.”
