Man charged with video recording in Addison church’s restroom
A Chicago man has been accused of secretly video recording a woman while she used a restroom at a church in Addison.
Steven Segura, 28, of the 8100 block of South Scottsdale Avenue, is charged with unauthorized video recording and/or transmission without a person’s consent.
It is not a detainable offense, so Segura was released from jail. A DuPage County judge ordered him to stay away from the Church of God on Army Trail Road. The judge also banned Segura from using any electronic devices, including cellphones, unless the court’s pretrial services department has installed monitoring software on them.
He is accused of placing a device in the restroom. He told police he could use an app on his phone to view the videos stored on the device, according to the felony complaint document.
The complaint also states police found “numerous other recordings” of other victims, taken outside of DuPage County.
Police are still investigating, and ask anyone with information to contact them at (630) 543-3080.
Segura’s next court date is Oct. 20.
