Hawthorn in Vernon Hills has announced a diverse calendar of events intended to provide rich, family-friendly experiences throughout the autumn season. From a curated night market and vibrant cultural festivities to a full-scale harvest festival and a beloved Halloween tradition, the center is set to become a hub of community activity this fall.
“At Hawthorn, we prioritize creating meaningful opportunities for community engagement, and this fall we’re excited to bring a variety of events to our guests,” said Jack Yejekwe, General Manager at Hawthorn. “From seasonal celebrations to unique experiences, our goal is to be the go-to gathering place for our community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy all that we have planned.”
The season kicks off with the Autumn Night Market, an evening dedicated to celebrating local artistry, from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in Hawthorn Row, across from Yard House. Attendees can browse a handpicked selection of small-batch goods from local vendors, including artisan jewelry, ceramics, candles, and gourmet food items. The event will feature live music and autumn-inspired decor, making it an ideal outing for a crisp fall evening.
Then enjoy Witches Night Out from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, inside Hawthorn. The event is a mystical evening featuring live music, a dedicated vendor market and interactive workshops. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities, including permanent jewelry services, potion-making, and tarot card readings.
Hawthorn will host a dual celebration to honor both Hispanic Heritage and Filipino American History Month on Saturday, Oct. 11, in H&M Court. The day will kick off with a Hispanic Heritage Celebration featuring live performances from noon to 2 p.m., including traditional Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico. Attendees can also participate in Latin Rhythmic Dance instruction and hands-on craft activities. Following this, explore a Filipino Market from noon to 4 p.m. with local vendors, authentic food from food trucks, cultural performances, and a unique Car Show in Macy’s Court.
Bring the whole family for a day of outdoor fun at Hawthorn’s Harvest Fest from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in Hawthorn Row. This festival includes a kid’s area with inflatables, face painting, and balloon twisting, as well as a pumpkin patch, train rides and a farmers and artisan market. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and an Oktoberfest Beer Tent from Yard House.
The season concludes with Hawthorn’s annual Trick-or-Treat event, providing a festive and safe environment for families to enjoy Halloween, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.
