Bears stadium at Arlington Park benefits all

The Chicago Bears’ commitment to build their next stadium at Arlington Park is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Arlington Heights, the Northwest Suburbs, and our entire state.

This project will bring thousands of construction and permanent jobs, expand the property tax base to support schools and local services, and attract new residents, businesses and visitors to Illinois. It will strengthen long-term financial stability in our communities and create new public spaces, transit improvements and infrastructure upgrades that benefit everyone — not just football fans.

But this vision cannot become reality without action in Springfield. A megaproject bill must be passed during the veto session this fall to provide the framework and certainty necessary to move forward. Delaying risks stalling momentum and forfeiting the chance to show Illinois can deliver bold, transformative projects.

This legislation is not just about Arlington Heights. Communities across the state stand to benefit when Illinois demonstrates it can compete with other regions for world-class development. Passing a megaproject bill will show that Illinois is open for business, capable of tackling ambitious projects, and committed to building a brighter future for its residents.

We urge our legislators to prioritize this legislation now. The opportunity is here. Let’s not miss it.
