Sex offender accused of possessing child pornography

A sex offender in Roselle has been accused of possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Jorge Figueroa, 35, of the 0-100 block of Bokelman Street, is charged with possession of child pornography — prior conviction, possession of methamphetamine and failure to register as a sex offender. All are felony charges.

Roselle police started an investigation May 30, based on information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The charges accuse Figueroa of uploading three child pornography images to his Snapchat account on May 6.

Police searched his home Thursday and arrested him. He appeared in DuPage County Circuit Court Friday.

The failure-to-register charge accuses Figueroa of not reporting all his social media and email accounts to police when he registered with them May 1 after moving into a relative’s house.

In April, Figueroa was placed on 36 months of probation in a Cook County child pornography case, according to the petition.

His next court date is Oct. 6.
