Two airlifted after early morning single-vehicle crash in Crystal Lake

Two people were airlifted to hospitals and a third was transported by ambulance after an early morning single-vehicle crash in Crystal Lake.

The driver, 23-year-old Harrison G. Pellikan of Crystal Lake, is charged with drunken driving and cited for a variety of driving offenses as well, police said.

Pellikan was airlifted in critical condition to a hospital following the crash that occurred just before 12:50 a.m. today near the intersection of Crystal Ridge and Carmella drives.

Another passenger in the vehicle was also airlifted, while a second passenger suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

Pellikan was speeding on Crystal Ridge Drive when the Toyota pickup he was driving left the road and struck a tree, police said.

Roads in the area were closed for about three hours. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Crystal Lake police at (815) 356-3620.
