Glen Ellyn man sentenced to over seven years for fentanyl-induced homicide
A Glen Ellyn man was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for supplying a fatal dose of fentanyl to his girlfriend.
Sergius Harty, 32, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to one count of drug-induced homicide on June 10.
Authorities say Harty traveled with girlfriend Margaret McCabe of Hinsdale, then 29, to purchase drugs in Oak Park on Nov. 4, 2021. Harty gave one bag containing fentanyl to McCabe, who took the drugs the next day at home. She overdosed and died.
Harty will be required to serve 75% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
