Free museum admission to honor Lake County’s first official historian
In honor of what would be Bess Bower Dunn’s 148th birthday, the Dunn Museum, 1899 W. Winchester Road in Libertyville, is offering free general admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 23.
Dunn, born in 1877, served Lake County for more than 60 years and became its first official historian.
Her dedication to preserving local history lives on through her collection, now housed at the museum operated by the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
Ticketed special exhibition fees will still apply. Visit lcfpd.org/museum/ or call (847) 968-3400.
