Bloodhound police dog to wear donated protective vest
A Glendale Heights police dog is getting a piece of gear to help keep her safe on the job.
Officials introduced Ivy last year as the department’s first bloodhound. Shes’ trained to find missing individuals and aid in the search for suspects.
Thanks to a donation from a nonprofit organization, Ivy will be able to wear a potentially lifesaving bullet and stab protective vest.
Ivy’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. Delivery is expected within 10 weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s provides protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies.
The charity accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. For more details, call (508) 824-6978 or visit vik9s.org, or you may mail contributions to P.O. Box 9, East Taunton, MA 02718.
