Wheaton police to kick off summer events with town hall

Wheaton police will host a town-hall meeting that will kick off a series of community engagement events in schools over the summer.

The meeting will be held at city hall starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29.

Residents will have a chance to learn about department technology, officer training and the role of social services, among other topics. Participants also will be able to ask questions.

“Active participation in local events and maintaining open lines of communication have been at the forefront of our community engagement efforts,” Police Chief P.J. Youker said in a statement. “We have strengthened our bond with the people we serve. This collaborative approach has not only helped us address community concerns more effectively but has also enabled us to tailor our services to better meet the unique needs of our diverse community.”

The town hall also will be shared live via Zoom, and the city will record the event.
